Live quizzes, right on your slides.
Put a quiz or a quick poll on any slide. Students answer on their phones, and you run everything from the slideshow.
Download the add-in file
One small file. You only need it once.
It tells PowerPoint where to find the platform. It isn't a program, and it updates by itself when the platform improves.
Add it to PowerPoint
Once per computer. Choose the PowerPoint you use.
- Make a folder, for example
C:\Add-ins, and move the downloaded file into it. - Share the folder: right-click it, then Properties›Sharing›Share…›Share›Done. The Sharing tab now shows the folder's Network Path, like
\\MY-PC\Add-ins. Copy it. - In PowerPoint, open File›Options›Trust Center›Trust Center Settings…›Trusted Add-in Catalogs.
- Paste the network path into Catalog Url, press Add catalog, tick Show in Menu, then press OK twice.
- Close PowerPoint and open it again. Go to Home›Add-ins›More Add-ins›Shared Folder, choose The Platform live quiz and press Add.
- In Finder, choose Go›Go to Folder…, paste
~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Powerpoint/Data/Documents/wefand press Return. If there is noweffolder, openDocumentsthere and make one. - Move the downloaded file into that folder.
- Close PowerPoint and open it again. The add-in is under Home›Add-ins.
- Open a presentation in PowerPoint on the web (office.com, with your school account).
- Go to Home›Add-ins›More Add-ins›My Add-ins›Upload My Add-in.
- Choose the downloaded file and press Upload.
No Upload My Add-in? Your school has switched it off: ask your IT to add it for everyone (the last tab).
For your school's Microsoft 365 administrator: it adds the add-in for every teacher at once.
- Send the add-in file to your school's IT.
- They open Microsoft 365 admin center›Settings›Integrated apps›Upload custom apps, choose Office Add-in, upload the file and choose who gets it.
- Within a day it appears in everyone's PowerPoint under Home›Add-ins.
Use it in class
Prepare the slide once, then present as usual.

Use your clicker
Click once inside the box. Then the clicker (or →) moves the game on: answer, leaderboard, next question.
Good to know
Quick polls
Ask anything: choices, a rating from 1 to 5, or a few words that become a word cloud. Not scored.
One PIN for the whole lesson
Students join once. Every quiz slide in the presentation adds to the same game, and the scores add up.
Check it before class
While editing, the box shows Questions (with the answers), Settings for this slide, and Theme.
If something doesn't work
I can't find Add-ins on the Home tab.
In older PowerPoint it is on the Insert tab: Insert›My Add-ins.
The clicker doesn't move the game on.
Click once inside the quiz box during the slideshow. PowerPoint keeps the keys for itself until you do.
The box stays on "Loading…".
Check the internet connection. After 20 seconds the box offers Reload. If it still doesn't open, delete the box and add the add-in again.
How do I sign out, or use another account?
While editing the slides, press Account at the top right of the quiz box, then Sign out or Use another account. Signing out on one slide signs out every quiz slide in PowerPoint on this computer. The quizzes stay on the slides. To sign in again, press Sign in in the box.
A colleague opens my presentation.
They sign in on the slide with their own account and choose one of their own quizzes with Change. Without the add-in, the slide shows a picture of the quiz title.
Which PowerPoint can I use?
PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 on Windows or Mac, PowerPoint 2021 or later, and PowerPoint on the web. PowerPoint 2016 and 2019 may not run it.
Ready for your next lesson?
Download the add-in once, then any slide can become a live quiz or a quick poll.
