About Lamma

What is Lamma?

لمّة is the everyday Arabic word for the family get-together: the evening when everyone ends up in the same room. Lamma is a card game made for that evening. There are no rules to learn and no scores to keep. Pick a deck, read a question out loud, and let the room take it from there.

Read more Show less

Family gatherings have a way of splitting up: the grown-ups at one end, the kids on their phones at the other. Lamma puts one phone in the middle instead. The questions are written so a seven-year-old and a grandmother can both answer them, and many of them are the ones families never think to ask: what song your mother sang to you, what the old house was like, how your grandparents met.

Every card is written in both Arabic and English. The whole app can run in either language, fully right to left in Arabic, and any single card flips to the other language with one tap, so a grandparent can read it in Arabic while the grandchildren follow in English.

The app remembers which questions your family has already seen, so next week's gathering starts with fresh ones.

Key Features

Table Talk

One card at a time, read out loud, and anyone can answer. Tap for the next card, swipe up to skip one.

Your Turn

Pass the phone around: five questions each, then it moves on. Add first names and Lamma hands the phone to each person by name.

Six Decks

From quick icebreakers and this-or-that votes to memory lane, deep questions and heritage stories for when the grandparents are in the room.

Arabic and English

The whole app in either language, fully right to left in Arabic, with Eastern Arabic numerals if you like. Flip any card to the other language in one tap.

Kids Are Playing

Holds back the cards that need grown-up memories, so a child's turn never lands on a question they can't answer.

Choose the Depth

Each deck has icebreaker, medium and deep questions. Turn levels on or off and see straight away how many cards are left.

Save and Share

Tap the heart to keep a question for later. Saved questions show both languages together and can be shared as a picture or as text.

Stays on Your Phone

No accounts, no servers, no analytics, and no internet needed. Names, saved questions and history never leave the device.

More

  • No repeats. Lamma remembers the questions your family has seen, so each gathering starts fresh. Reset the history any time.
  • Pick up where you left off. If a round gets interrupted, Continue last gathering takes you back to the same card.
  • A recap at the end of each round, with the questions you saved along the way.
  • Readable across the room. A text-size setting makes the cards easier to read from the other side of the table.
  • Instant language switch. Change the app language in Settings and everything switches straight away, no restart.
  • Haptic feedback, which you can turn off.
  • iPad as well as iPhone.

5. Your Content

The first names you add and the questions you save stay on your device. They are yours and we have no access to them. When you share a question, you choose where it goes.

6. Purchases

If the App offers optional purchases, they are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store under Apple's terms. We never receive your payment details.

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 3, 2026 · Last updated: October 3, 2026

Everything stays on your phone. Lamma has no accounts, no servers and no analytics, and it never connects to the internet. The names you add, the questions you save and your history live only on your device. We collect nothing, so there is nothing to sell, share or delete. Read the full policy →

Read full privacy policy Show less

CS42.org ("we", "us", "our") built Lamma as a game for family gatherings. This policy explains what the app keeps and where it goes. The short version: it stays on your device. Lamma has no accounts, no servers and no analytics, and it contains no code that sends your data anywhere.

1. What We Collect

Nothing. We operate no servers for the app and receive no data from it. We cannot see the names you add, the questions you play or save, or how often you play.

2. What the App Stores on Your Device

  • Family names: the first names you add for Your Turn (up to 24), so the app can hand the phone to each person by name.
  • Saved questions: the questions you mark with the heart.
  • Play history: which questions your family has already seen, so they don't repeat, and the last gathering's deck and position, so you can continue it.
  • Preferences: app language, numerals, kid-friendly mode, depth levels, text size and haptics.

None of it is transmitted. It is not included in any account, because there is no account.

3. No Permissions Needed

Lamma does not ask for access to your camera, microphone, photos, contacts or location, and it does not send notifications.

4. Sharing Is Always Your Choice

Nothing is shared automatically. When you share a saved question as a picture or as text, the picture is made on your device and iOS hands it to whichever app you pick. From that point that app's privacy policy applies.

5. No Tracking, No Ads, No Third-Party SDKs

The app contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash-reporting services and no tracking identifiers. It does not use the Advertising Identifier and does not "track" you as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.

6. Purchases

If the app offers optional purchases, they are processed by Apple. We never receive your name, Apple ID or payment details.

7. Children

Lamma is made to be played by whole families, children included. Because we collect no data at all, we hold no personal information about anyone, including children.

8. Your Control and Your Rights

  • Edit or remove family names in Settings at any time.
  • Clear saved questions and Reset seen questions are in Settings, under Data.
  • Deleting the app removes everything it stored.

There is no request to make of us under GDPR, CCPA or similar laws, because we hold nothing to disclose, correct or erase.

9. Data Retention

We retain nothing, for any period. The app keeps the items above on your device until you clear them or delete the app.

10. Security

What the app stores is protected by your device's own security: your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and iOS app sandboxing.

11. International Users

No data is transferred anywhere, so no international data transfer takes place.

12. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the dates at the top change with it, and material changes will be described in the app's release notes.

13. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at hello@cs42.org.

View FAQ Hide FAQ

When is Lamma coming out?

Soon. Leave your email in the launch form and we'll send one message on the day it reaches the App Store, and nothing else.

How many people can play?

As many as fit in the room. Table Talk needs no setup at all. For Your Turn, add up to 24 first names and the phone goes round by name.

Can grandparents and grandchildren play together?

That is what it is made for. The questions are written so all ages can answer, the Memory Lane and Heritage & Elders decks are built around the grandparents' stories, and any card flips between Arabic and English in one tap.

Is it safe for young children?

Turn on Kids are playing and Lamma holds back the cards that need grown-up memories, so a child's turn never lands on a question they can't answer. Each deck also shows who it suits best.

Do I need the internet or an account?

No. Everything is in the app and on your phone, so it works anywhere, including at a family house with no Wi-Fi.

Will we see the same questions again?

Not until you've been through them. Lamma remembers which questions your family has seen, and you can reset that history in Settings.

Can I suggest a question?

Please do. Send it in Arabic, English or both to hello@cs42.org.

We typically respond within 48 hours.
